Passage to India
May 13th, 2007
From Francesca:
For the past couple of years, I’ve been stopping in to check out the wares at Layla (86 Hoyt St., Brooklyn; 718-222-1933), my secret neighborhood source for beautiful Indian linens, jewelry, clothing, and prints. The owner, Alayne Patrick, stocks linens from John Robshaw, and recently started carrying a new line of bedding produced for her by a small textile mill in India. She’s also got textiles from a line called Liwan (from Lebanon, via Paris); next time you’re in the area, pay her a visit.Assorted bed linens from John Robshaw (a friend of Alayne’s who sometimes accompanies her on jaunts to India; check out his line at johnrobshaw.com):
Woven patterned towels run from $5 to $30:
Ravi Barma embellished prints in original frames range from $280 to $1,500:
