Ikea Hack: DIY Furniture You Can Paint

September 18, 2017

One of our favorite design hacks is painting furniture. It’s quick (you can do it in an afternoon), budget-friendly, and leaves room for creativity. We like to go high/low with it; pair cheap furniture with luxe paint, change the knobs, and paint the screws to match.

Ikea offers a few unfinished furniture pieces that make painting even easier. (No varnish to strip! To cover up the pine knots, pair paint with a primer and top it with two coats.) Here’s a roundup of our favorites—many of which we have in our own homes.
