Object of Desire: Quilts from Smith’s General in Yarmouth, Maine

May 23, 2022

In Maine, no summer bedroom is complete without a quilt to pull up should the fog roll in or the air turn cool. Our favorite Maine-made quilts come from Smith’s General in Yarmouth, where founder Dash Mashland and her team make heritage-stitched, modern-patterned bed coverings. (The quilts are also one of the essential products featured in The Maine 30 in our new book, Remodelista in Maine, out this week from Artisan Books).

Take a look at a few of the standout offerings.

The quilt is stitched from linen and cotton, “strong yet gentle and entwined with the simplicity of coastal evenings.”

Shown here is the SG x The Lost Kitchen Lost Cabin Quilt (from $275), with a pattern “reminiscent of the water flowing over the mills falls” beside the restaurant. It’s available exclusively through The Lost Kitchen’s shop.
