Browsing through Urban Outfitters’ new lighting offerings recently, we were reminded of some of our all-time favorite fixtures: industrial-style lights made of vintage parts near Lyon, France. We opened the tabs in our browser side by side and, sure enough, there’s a striking similarity (except for a sizable price difference). Here’s a look at the two options, both splurge-worthy and economical.
High
Above: Made in Villeurbanne, France, the Adjustable Two-Arm Wall Lamp by lighting atelier Wo & Wé is made of black steel, and is comprised of a black rod affixed to the wall with articulating arms attached. It’s available on request for €659, and can be wired for installation or plug-in.
Above: The Simon Adjustable Sconce, also made of black steel and “inspired by modern industrial design,” shares a similar structure: an articulated arm mounted on a fixed vertical rod. It’s $89 from Urban Outfitters.
The Original
Above: Both versions bear a striking resemblance to the original, iconic Lampe Gras. See more versions in High/Low: Wall-Mounted Lampe Gras.
