Admired recently: A collection of wallpaper from Calico and Serbian designer Ana Kraš. The designs are hand-drawn by Kraš and resemble penmanship paper in soft, alternating colors. Named Mira and Miloš, after her mother and father, respectively, the collection is deeply personal. The Mira papers, which feature crossing lines, evoke the tapestries that Kraš mother, Mira, hung in their Belgrade house. And the Miloš papers are inspired by the horizon of Montenegro, where Kraš father, Miloš, built a cottage. Here’s a look at the two designs and colors available through Calico and at the Future Perfect.
Above: The Mira & Miloš Roze Wallpaper is available through Calico. “Blush and tender like a cheek” is what Kraš calls the color. All designs are nonrepeating custom murals and have a 10- to 12-week lead time. Above: The Mira & Miloš Pepermint Wallpaper, $32 per square foot at the Future Perfect, is a palette inspired by “sun-glazed ice” and the “smell of peppermint.” Above: Another color from the Mira design, the Mira & Miloš Badem Wallpaper is $32 per square foot at the Future Perfect. Kraš’s Bonbon Lamp, handmade with colored yarn, anchors the tableau. Above: The Mira & Miloš Siva Wallpaper is one of the Miloš designs inspired by the sea, “mountains and cliffs” and “strong wind” Kraš says; $32 per square foot at the Future Perfect. Above: The Mira & Miloš Vetar Wallpaper is inspired by “rich wools woven with threads of gold, like my mom’s tweed blazer,” says Kraš. It’s $32 per square foot at the Future Perfect. Above: A detail of the Mira & Miloš Zora Wallpaper shows how hand-drawn lines fade from one color into another; $32 per square foot at the Future Perfect.
