A New Take on the Dhurrie from Spanish Designer Nani Marquina

June 2, 2017

Recently debuted at the Salone del Mobile in Milan: the Mía rug by Spanish designer Nani Marquina. The flat-weave wool rug is Marquina’s take on the traditional Indian dhurrie, made of three individual mats loomed by hand in India and sewn together for a lived-in effect. Each rug is made to order and can be configured in a variety of combinations: choose from two sizes, four base colors, and several finishing details like fringe or contrast stitching. The rug is available from Nani Marquina showrooms in Barcelona and NYC and other retailers around the world.

The Mía rug is made of pure New Zealand wool and comes in brown, navy, brick red, and stone gray (shown here).
