The range hood is an essential: It removes odors, heat, and grease from your kitchen. Lately we’ve been admiring low-profile vents (especially those that can be concealed under a kitchen cabinet that hovers over your stove).
Most of the styles we show here are convertible: They can be either vented—that is, attached to a vent or duct that sends the air outdoors—or unvented, by adding a recirculation option with charcoal filters that clean the air. (See more in Remodeling 101: The Verdict on Vented Vs. Non-Vented Range Hoods.) Most come in a variety of sizes; for comparison purposes, we’ve largely focused on 36-inch-wide models.
