Architect Visit: Sandell Sandberg in Gotland

Memorial Day has us thinking about simple seaside dwellings, such as this pair of beach cabins on the island of Gotland by Stockholm-based architects Sandell Sandberg. The pine facade panels were treated with a tar and linseed oil varnish, a traditional Swedish treatment for houses built near the sea.

Can you tell us more about the intended function? Day-trip cabana? Overnight camping shelter? Vacation cottage?
They have an abstract quality that's peaceful and in context with the stark landscape, but are they humane (comfortable)?
I really enjoy reading this blog; but at the risk of being completely self-righteous, what does Memorial Day have to do with simple seaside dwellings.
I don't mean to judge or be terribly condescending, but Memorial Day has nothing to do with simple seaside dwellings.
Perhaps a better introduction would have been, "The beginning of summer has us thinking..."
These beach cabins seem small, can't tell if they are functional.
