Shopper’s Diary: Layla in Brooklyn
May 13th, 2007
From Francesca:
For the past couple of years, I’ve been stopping in to check out the wares at Layla in Boerum Hill, my secret neighborhood source for beautiful Indian linens, jewelry, clothing, and prints. The owner, Alayne Patrick, stocks linens from John Robshaw, and recently started carrying a new line of bedding produced for her by a small textile mill in India. She’s also got textiles from a line called Liwan (from Lebanon, via Paris); next time you’re in the area, pay her a visit.Assorted bed linens from John Robshaw (a friend of Alayne’s who sometimes accompanies her on jaunts to India; check out his line at John Robshaw):
Below: Woven patterned towels run from $5 to $30.

Below: John Robshaw linens.

Below: More Robshaw.

Below: Ravi Barma embellished prints in original frames range from $280 to $1,500.
