Stylish Aprons
From Julie:
For some reason it took me several grease-stained years to figure out the importance of aprons in domestic life: who wants to swan around the kitchen swaddled in a housewifey apron? Then I discovered an arrestingly chic aubergine/army green striped French apron that added a certain Left Bank vibe to the pre-dinner-party kitchen proceedings (sadly, I haven’t been able to find it online). But here are some other stylish possibilities:
San Francisco–based, Swedish-born designer Lotta Jansdotter’s Bunke long cafe apron, imprinted with an au courant botanical graphic, $44 at jansdotter.com:
Hable Construction’s skydot printed canvas aprons (you can get matching oven mitts); $32 at hableconstruction.com:

Canadian designer Virginia Johnson’s whimsical patterns; $65 at virginiajohnson.com:

The Santorini Apron; $62 from the Linen House at thelinenhouse.com:

No-nonsense canvas aprons for $48 from utilitycanvas.com:

Also worth considering: oven mitts for $28 from deadlysquire.com:
