As we ease into spring on the East Coast, we’re admiring fashion buyer Lisa Jones’s Shelter Island living room, a summery mix of midcentury Danish and new Nordic design. We like the way Jones and husband James Hyatt updated their vintage furniture and sample sale finds with new upholstery and unique color combinations (colors inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragán). Here is a list of exact and similar sources to re-create the look.
Above: “The inspiration behind the living room colors are from Luis Barragán combinations: pink, green, and yellow,” Jones says. Photograph by Jonathan Hokklo. Above: Jones’s team painted the bungalow’s dark wood walls, trim, and ceilings all white. Photography by Jonathan Hokklo. Above: Muuto’s deep Pink Rest Sofa is $4,207.50 at ABC Carpet & Home. For more, see our post 10 Easy Pieces: The Pink Sofa. Above: The Deneb Glass Table by Jesús Gasca for Stua ranges in price from $1,287.75 to $1,844.50, depending on size, at Design Within Reach. Above: Jones found their Danish armchairs at Brimfield and had them reupholstered (see upholstery fabric below for the source). For something similar, source chairs like this Set of Vintage Danish Teak Armchairs for $2,800 on 1st Dibs. Above: The Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen daybed, a flea market find, was given a facelift: The backboard was removed and the fabric reupholstered by Brooklyn interiors firm George & Martha. A similar version with blue fabric is the Nielsen Daybed on 1st Dibs or the Minerva Sofa with yellow fabric, also on 1st Dibs. Above: The Hans Wegner CH338 Table seen in Jones’s kitchen was found at a Carl Hansen sample sale. It’s also available at Danish Design Store for $4,475. Above: Hans Wegner’s Wishbone Chairs in oak; $599 each from Design Within Reach.
Above: Jones sourced a Beni Ourain rug on Etsy (see Etsy shop Pink Rug Co. for options). This rug is the Tazarine Wool Rug for $2,300 at ABC Carpet & Home. Above: The vintage armchairs were reupholstered in Dark Green Kvadrat Tonus 4 Upholstery Fabric by Brooklyn interiors firm George & Martha. Above: The Wool Blanket in Carbon by Mexchic is $135 at The Line. Above: The Washed Velvet Pillow Cover, shown in Honey Gold, is $23 at Pottery Barn.
