Recently spotted from New Zealand makers George & Willy: a hanging drying rack that raises and lowers on a pulley system, creating an instant laundry room in the smallest of spaces. I’m adding it to my wish list for my compact New York apartment (so I can break my bad habit of draping wet laundry over chairs and windowsills). Here’s a look.
Above: George & Willy, based in a boat shed in New Zealand, specializes in “life tools for humans around the world.” Shown here: the Hanging Drying Rack, available for $267. Above: Made of steel, wood, and braided yachting rope, the drying rack hangs from the ceiling and raises and lowers for easy access. A steel cleat, affixed to the wall, tethers extra rope. Above: The system “quickly dries laundry by utilizing warm air trapped in the ceiling space,” according to the makers. Above: The rack comes disassembled and is available in black or white. Above: In situ.
