Above: Guest judge Jenni Kayne admires this recently renovated Bathroom by amateur remodeler Dorien, which makes the most of its small footprint. “I love the paneling, the hardware, and the lighting,” she says. “The contrast of the dark bronze fixtures with everything else white is great.” Above: Editor in chief Julie Carlson admired amateur remodeler Conway’s Craftsman Bungalow Guest Bathroom Remodel, noting how the “bold blue painted paneling and Shaker peg rails make this bathroom both practical and punchy.” Photograph by Eric Brackett. Above: The homeowners added historically accurate details like the clawfoot tub and window molding in their Modern Edwardian Bath Remodel along with a graphic floor tile. This project was a favorite of guest judge Jenni Kayne, who was impressed with their attention to detail. Above: Another of Julie’s picks was Old Echo Park: A Bathroom Reconstructed, a shotgun bungalow bathroom renovation done with mostly found materials. “This bathroom has loads of character and is outfitted with vintage finds and salvaged mint green plumbing fixtures; it all adds up to a personal, eclectic space,” says Julie. Above: Jenni admired the use of elegant white paneling in The Huntbox Project bathroom, a renovation of a residence previously used as temporary lodging for riders and horses while foxhunting.
