My late mother was a devotee of Yves Saint Laurent’s Rive Gauche perfume; she left a trail of his soigné scent in her wake in the 1970s. Perhaps that’s why I was so entranced to discover a collaboration between the estate of one of our favorite American furniture designers, the late Donald Judd, and YSL creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
From YSL: “After a year of extensive renovations, the Saint Laurent space features pieces designed in partnership with Donald Judd Furniture and introduces two new finishes in the Maison’s signature black and white colors. These new finishes—steel and traffic white painted aluminum—are applied to Judd’s original 1984 designs. The entire collection by Judd, comprising 15 designs ranging from chairs and tables to desks and beds, is realized in these new shades for the first time.” An unlikely pairing? Yes, but also inspiring.
The pieces are available for purchase, but quantities are limited.
