Most dining tables measure between 36 and 40 inches wide—a comfortable standard, but not always a practical one. For tight kitchens, narrow dining rooms, and passage-like spaces, we looked for tables measuring 34 inches across or less, with several coming in at a particularly slender 30 inches.

Designed by Bertjan Pot in 2005, all proportions are lithe and available in solid oak, semi-solid oak, or oak veneer. The Slim Rectangle (shown) is available in a few dimensions, the most narrow of them all measuring 55 inches long by just 27 inches wide. The widest this table comes in is 35.5 inches. Above: The Nikari Basic Table, designed by Jenni Roininen in 2020, comes flat pack in ash or oak. The most narrow oval shape is 31.5 inches wide. Above: Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1950, the BM1160 Hunting Dining Table is now produced through Carl Hansen & Søn.
