Object of Desire: A Self-Extinguishing Candlestick from Hay

March 27, 2018

Fischli and Weiss would have had a field day with this one. The Moment Candlestick, designed by Lars Beller Fjetland for Hay, has a mechanism to extinguish a candle when it reaches the point of no return—just before the wick burns out. No more fire worries (and no need to gouge out candle nubs with a butter knife).

Object of Desire A SelfExtinguishing Candlestick from Hay The Hay Moment Candlestick can be sourced in the US at the MoMA Design Shop for \$35 and online from the Finnish Design Shop for \$34.95, among other retailers. For more on the design, visit Hay.
