Fischli and Weiss would have had a field day with this one. The Moment Candlestick, designed by Lars Beller Fjetland for Hay, has a mechanism to extinguish a candle when it reaches the point of no return—just before the wick burns out. No more fire worries (and no need to gouge out candle nubs with a butter knife).
