Admired recently: the latest release of tile patterns from Marrakech-based Popham Designs. Caitlin and Samuel Dowe-Sandes, the American founders, work with Moroccan mellums, or tile artisans, who produce the tiles in an energy-efficient hydraulic press. For a list of stockists, go to Popham Designs (in the US and the UK, the tiles are available from Ann Sacks). Here’s a look at the bold new designs.
Above: Diamond Chevron Tiles in Lawn/Milk/Coal stripes. The tiles are lead and toxin-free and work well with radiant heating.
Above: Toubkal Tiles in Emerald + Milk.
Above: The Hex Artichoke Tile in Celadon + Milk on a bedroom wall.
Above: Monochromatic Half Karat Tiles.
Above: The multi-color Baguette Tiles (also available in tonal grays) have a watercolor-like effect.
Above: Hex Crossroads Tiles in Heavy (where white pattern lines are filled in as opposed to the outlined Light design).
Above: The Half Karat Tile (same as the gray tile above) in Multi Green.
