Spotted on Instagram: Mendocino Grove, our latest glamping obsession on the California coast, with well-placed autumn hues and a few luxe amenities. And just in time: the campground recently extended its season, with tents available every day through October and on weekends through November for late autumn getaways. Join us for a glimpse.

The site has the best of both worlds—forest and ocean—and offers two options for glampers: Classic Tents, which measure 12 feet by 14 feet inside, and Family Tents, which measure 16 feet by 20 feet, for larger broods. Above: The tents are perched on platforms that extend into a private deck made of redwood, with leather butterfly chairs for surveying the landscape. Above: Inside one of the larger tents: a simple wood bed frame (for a similar one, see Ikea’s Neiden design), folding director’s chairs, down comforters, wool blankets, and lanterns that serve as bedside reading lights. For a small charge the campsite can provide a “camp box” kitted out with enamelware, a cast iron pan, and a checkered tablecloth, for chic rustic camp dining. Ice chest rentals are also available. Above: Here’s something we never thought we’d see at a campground: a marble vanity. Despite the rustic surroundings, the campsite has a few modern amenities we can get behind, including hot showers (stocked with towels and luxe bath products, no less) and electricity to power electric blankets and bedside lamps.
