I’m told that someday I’ll inherit my parents’ wedding silver, with small Qs etched into the handles, which we take out of my grandmother’s Welsh cupboard on special occasions and which shows the wear of so many years of gatherings. Until then, I’m admiring this artfully pre-distressed flatware, to get the look of time-worn silver without having to wait for time to pass. It’s made by Italian company KnIndustrie and available via The Loft; with pieces ranging from €3.30 to €21 for larger pieces, it’s affordable enough for everyday use. Take a look.
Above: The Bricklane Cutlery collection is made of stainless steel, with a “finish obtained by a backwash with porcelain stones.” Pieces are sold individually to allow for mix and match, “just as if [the buyer] is in the historic London street market from which the collection takes its name,” the company says. Above: A full table setting, with prices hovering around €4 for a table fork and €7.60 for a table knife. Speciality tableware like cake servers, sauce ladles, fish forks and fruit spoons are also available; see The Loft for the full collection. N.B.: The collection is also available via MOHD.
