We spotted the blankets recently in Fforest’s “garden shacks” and went on a quest to find a few of our own, perfect for pulling up at night when the temperature drops.

Above: Etsy is a great place to find Welsh blankets both vintage and new. This is the Prussian Loom & Bobbin Wool Blanket Throw Welsh Tapestry, Fair Isle Design, from Etsy seller The Weaving Shed UK; it’s $168.70. Above: And the Woolen ‘Afon/River’ Blanket, Welsh Caernarfon Pattern, from Etsy seller Welsh Otter, starts at $195.31 for a throw size. (“Our knitted blankets are designed by us in our studio in Wales,” according to the Etsy shop. “‘Afon’ features a stunning geometric pattern based on the traditional and iconic Caernarfon pattern.” It’s made from “100 percent biodegradable lambswool, and nothing else.”) Above: And the classic: Melin Tregwynt still makes and sells Welsh blankets. This is the Knot Garden pattern (an “intricate double cloth tapestry weave was created in the 1950’s with help from the rural industries board. It forms part of our archive of classic designs and because of its timeless appeal has been in continuous production here at the mill since the 1960s”) in Indigo. It starts at £179 for a throw size.
