Open-Shelf Living: The Ultimate Stackable Glasses

Christine Chang Hanway May 10, 2012

"In our new kitchen remodel," I say to my husband, a fellow architect, “wouldn't it be great to have open shelves?”

“We can’t,” he sighs, “we have so little cabinet space as it is.”

“But take a look at these Ittala stackable wine glasses," I say. "The storage in our kitchen would be much more efficient if we stocked our shelves with only these."

He's agreed to the logic of it, but he's still bemused that the remodel has yet to begin and it's already costing us money.

Above: Designed by Matti Klenell (a Swede who calls himself a "glass nerd") for Ittala, the glasses are named for the Finnish word meaning universal and come in four colors; Clear (£29.95 for four) and Gray, Dark Purple, and Light Blue (£50 for two).

Above: Introduced to us by our friends at Llustre.com, the Lempi glasses are stackable and dishwasher safe.
