Furniture: Simon James in New Zealand

Julie Carlson February 25, 2010

Founded by Simon James in 1998 as a vehicle to distribute his own work, the Simon James Design shop carries cutting-edge lines such as Established & Son and Barber Osgerby. James, who has a degree in spatial design from the Auckland University of Technology, also exhibits works by New Zealand designers (both established and emerging), including David Trubridge, Purple South, Bob McDonald, David Moreland, and Candywhistle; go to Simon James Design to view the offerings.

Above: Designed by Simon James, the Ash Bar Table is constructed from sustainably sourced solid American ash with a clear lacquer finish (other timber finishes and custom sizes are available; also available as a dining table).

Above: The Good One Stool, designed by Alistair Keating and Powersurge, is made of powder-coated metal and is available in two heights.

Above: Simon James’ Hawk Chair is available in a range of colors.
