From Julie & Janet:
We know it's not a new idea, but maps make the perfect wall adornment in children's rooms: aesthetically appealing, and think of all the geography to be learned.

Here are some sourcing ideas:

Above: Design Within Reach recently started carrying selections from Future Maps, a UK company founded in 2003 by a graphic designer/geography enthusiast. Magnetic Future Maps (top photo) are available in two sizes ($150 for the small size, $450 for the large size). Paper Future Maps are $80 for small, $180 for large.

My sister is a teacher and was lucky enough to score for us an old-style classroom roll-down map, complete with all the hardware and the wooden bars at top and bottom. It was pre-cold war, so has the good old U.S.S.R. on it - a little piece of history, as well as geography that we enjoy in our travel-themed guest room.
Maps are soo much fun and they look great.
