Edgy Graphics from a Cult Designer in Amsterdam

Issue 38 · The Low Countries · September 21, 2012

The skies may be gray in the Netherlands, but the textiles are bright (is there a correlation?). Cult designer Mae Engelgeer specializes in sharp graphic patterns paired with shocking color. Where does she get her inspiration? "Vintage scarves, wrapping paper, the culture of Amsterdam."

Engelgeer studied Applied Arts at the Sandberg Instituut and sells her work at concept and design stores in the Netherlands, London (at Couverture, on of our favorite housewares stores), and online.

To see more of her work, go to Studio Mae Engelgeer.
