Workstead is a design firm, founded in 2009 by Stefanie Brechbuehler and Robert Andrew Highsmith. They were joined by Ryan Mahoney, also a graduate of the RISD Architecture program, in 2010. Their studios are located in Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley, where they focus on architectural and interior design, lighting, furniture, and exhibitions. Workstead’s aim is to design responsible works that create a sense of place for both the objects they contain and the people that experience them. Their palette is strong and rich, yet simple and efficient. In 2011, Workstead designed the public spaces for The Wythe Hotel, Williamsburg’s first boutique hotel. While at home in Brooklyn, Workstead currently has projects in New York City, Upstate New York, Connecticut, and Oklahoma. The company’s lighting is sold online at www.workstead.com, and through stores in New York CIty and Los Angeles. Their installations can be found in the collection of Barneys COOP, Levi's, Facebook, and in private residences all over the world.
