It’s a familiar scenario to many of us: You’re running out the door on a busy morning when you realize that you forgot something. Maybe your partner has an important meeting, or your child has a test at school that day, or you won’t be home in time to personally welcome a houseguest. A quick text is overlooked, and a note on the fridge doesn’t catch much attention.
Might there be a more beautiful and fun way to stay in touch from afar? Dorrian Porter, founder of Vestaboard, was waiting for the train under the departures board at the Gare du Nord station in Paris when he had an idea: What if he could send a message to his children in a way that would stand out and spark delight– enduring in the home far beyond a text message? After five years of research and development, Vestaboard was born: a display composed of 8,448 spinning flaps that deliver custom messages set from your phone, whether practical reminders or just to add a little joy to daily life.
