New from London-based furniture makers Another Country: a line of furniture designed by Northern Ireland–born designer David Irwin and inspired by Old Furniture, a poem by English novelist and poet Thomas Hardy. In it, Hardy writes, “I see the hands of the generations/ That owned each shiny familiar thing/ In play on its knobs and indentations.” It’s “an ode to the beauty of furniture being handed down the generations,” the company/makers explain. Here’s a look at the Hardy series, built to last.
