Last week I got to attend Santa Lucia mass in Malmö, Sweden…by way of a friend’s Instagram story. While I’d rather be there in person, I did enjoy the benefits of modern armchair travel as I watched the long-haired girls in candle crowns on repeat. How to reproduce from abroad? With Scandinavian design, of course. Here are five brass candleholders for creating a halo of your own.
Above: Menu’s POV Circle Candleholder is made of silver-plated brass and features a taper that stands out from the circle affixed to the wall; $129.95 at Horne. Above: Ferm Living’s Large Circle Candle Holder is made of two interlaced brass circles and holds a single tea light; €74 ($87). Above: Designed by Broberg & Ridderstråle for Klong, the Gloria Brass Candle Holder is lit with a single taper anchored in brass; 1,000 SEK ($117 USD) at Artilleriet. Above: Another one from Ferm Living, the Large Circle Candle Holder can be displayed two ways: on the tabletop or hanging from removable leather strings. It’s made of solid brass with a matte finish; €129 ($151). Above: Artist Malin Appelgren was trained by her grandfather who made the first Royal Sconce for the Swedish royal family in the 1930s. Each of her Brass Sconces (also available in pewter) are hand hammered and come in four sizes; $335 to $1,150 at March. They’re also available in the large size at Mjölk in Toronto.
