For those who wish they could just shut the door on clutter, this may be the perfect solution. This multi-functional cabinet on wheels, designed by Swiss-born, Paris-based architect Ubald Kleg, is an intriguing storage option. Designed from Finnish aviation plywood, the Shell comes with built-in shelving and can double as a home office, wardrobe, or kitchen pantry. For more information, go to roethlisberger.ch

Goodbye flimsy rotating Lazy Susan plastic racks or beyond-arm’s-reach forays into the depths of the corner cabinet space. We are enamored of this Space Corner solution from Heritage Cabinetry for that awkward corner in the kitchen cabinetry. Easily recreated with the help of a carpenter.

We love the Brackets Included powder-coated shelf designed by Sylvain Willenz from Belgian outfit Vlaemsch, made from a single sheet of pressed steel and available in a variety of colors. In the US, $180 at Nova 68; in Europe, 95 Euros at vlaemsch.be.

Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel comprise Amsterdam design firm X + L; we especially admire their kitchens, which are somehow unmistakenly Dutch in their austerity and use of color. Visit xandl.nl to see more of their work:

Philip Reno has spent the last two decades obsessing about color, as a master painter, faux finisher, and color consultant. Since 1995, he has operated San Francisco’s G&R Paint Company, creating a palette of full-spectrum colors for C2 Paints that is prized for its complexity and sophistication. In his collection of 108 coordinating architectural shades, each single color combines some elements of blue, red, and yellow and/or their complements. Reno says, “Contrary to common practice in the paint industry, I use no black pigment to tone or darken my colors. This technique more fully approaches the light range we see in nature. Black is the one pigment that reflects no light; therefore it is not used.” Visit philipsperfectcolors.com to see his range of colors and to read his witty descriptions; Reno also suggests felicitous color pairings, such as Celery with Wedgewood Blue.
