On my last trip to Florence, I discovered Brandimarte Argenteria, located in the heart of the Oltrarno neighborhood on the west bank of the Arno. Founded in 1955 by Brandimarte Guscellin, and now run by his son Stefano and sister Giada, the workshop produces hand-chiseled and -sculpted pieces in the age-old tradition of Florentine silversmiths, offering both ornate and minimalist patterns (prices are calculated by weight). "Bradimarte pieces are created to give special emphasis to each and every moment of daily life," the owners say. Go to Brandimarte to view the full catalog.
Above two photos: Two vintage Brandimarte pieces and an example of the characteristic Brandimarte date stamp.
