English appliance manufacturer Rowlett Rutland’s tagline is simple: “Toast brings people together. So show it some respect.” Based in Bookham, Surrey, England, Rowlett Rutland introduced the first commercial toaster to the world in 1946 and a domestic two-slot version a year later. Founded by Ted Rutland, father of the company’s current MD Bob Rutland, the company now produces several lines of sturdy, industrial-looking toasters for both commercial and home use (its Regent Retro four-slot model won the 2012 Best British Product at the Home Show in Earls Court London).
