Brooklyn designers Studio Tack are experts in renovating tired hospitality joints. Take Scribner’s Catskill Lodge, for example, a 38-room mountain lodge in Hunter, New York, that, in its heyday, was a chic weekend retreat for Manhattanites in the late 1960s when it was first designed by Guy Chirico Sr. Decades later, the lodge sat outmoded and empty until Marc Chodock and Glennon Travis bought the property and worked with Studio Tack on the renovation. The lodge reopened last November with an improved design that preserves the eccentricity of the original building. Here’s a look.
