10 Things to Know About Christine

  1. Lives:
    London, UK; New London, CT
  2. Has Lived:
Hartford, CT; Cambridge, MA; Cambridge, UK; New York, NY
  3. Why I Love London:
The city's history and its sense of humor give me perspective.
  4. Design Cred:
Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design, where I met my architect husband.
  5. Odd Job:
Building an intricate basswood model for Peter Eisenman's entry to the Venice Biennale. Of all the other contenders, my hands were the only ones small and steady (allergic to caffeine, which is atypical for architects) enough to handle the tiny pieces.
  6. In My Closet:
Once an architect, always an architect, at least in the way I dress—pared back, minimal, and mostly black. LBD from Album di Famiglia and workwear from Margaret Howell's MHL line. I'm always wearing LA designer Kathleen Whitaker's earrings.
  7. Design Icon:
    Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.
  8. Proudest Remodeling Moment:
Maximizing space in our small London townhouse and making the kitchen seem larger without adding a costly extension.
  9. Favorite Home Inspiration:
The Geffrye Museum of the Home in London
  10. Last Items I Bought for My House:
Flatweave cotton Mungo towels from Home Address and two pink ottomans from Cassandra Ellis Studio, my two favorite homeware shops in London.
