Into the Wild: A Compass with Style

Issue 31 · Cabins & Camping · July 30, 2012

Looking to hike off trail this summer? Here's an appealing compass worth slinging around your neck.

LA based designer Joey Roth collaborated with SHwood in Portland, OR (they make good-looking wood framed sunglasses), to create this limited edition handmade wooden compass.

Above: Made from laminated maple and East Indian rosewood, the Compass features a Francis Barker survival compass; $75 from Joey Roth.

Above: The compass comes with a leather tie for hanging round the neck.
