This is a beautiful house! I love the marble fireplaces - they are really ornate and beautiful. I also really like the paint colors chosen - they make the house so cozy and authentic.
It's always sad when people renovate Victorian houses and strip all the character out of the rooms leaving them empty and sterile. I think this house exemplifies the character and coziness that remains when the beautiful details are left.
i really like the look and feel of this interior. simply beautiful.
Lovely, homey! But the Playboy logo did jar a little for me, too.
What's the paint colour in the final photo, remodelista readers?! Very soothing indeed... dying to know.
Hi Jo,
We love the blue shade as well. I'm not sure what it is, but visit our Paints & Palettes: Pale Blues post for ideas.

Bohemian? I don't know what is particularly "Bohemian" about this house. I clicked a link thinking it would show me something interesting...oh well. The house is fine...don't get me wrong...just not "Bohemian"...unless the people who live in it are from Bohemia...?
That is one NARROW room over the stoop/entryway. My, my. Only fits a twin bed length-wise. Ugh. I hope the ginko out front is a male tree...otherwise, it's dog-poop smell fall through winter...
Nice. Thanks for this story. But FYI that is not the "original kitchen range." The original would have been coal or wood burning. Also, it would have laid flat against the hole and filled it up entirely with a shelf on top.
I need more information about cutting out the fireplace. Did you reinforce it. I would love to do this in my apt. but worry about collapsing the whole right side.
