Azevedo design started as a furniture design and fabrication company in 1992. Favoring fabrication over drafting, she began combining wood and steel to create a variety of limited edition furniture. Custom commissions soon followed and the projects expanded into larger installations and various materials.
Using her own living spaces as places for experimentation, Azevedo gained intimate knowledge of the building process. This gave her an insider’s awareness of budget and constructability and the ability to push humble materials to new limits.
Expanding on this experience, Azevedo Design has been providing architectural services since 2007.
A commitment to green building can be seen in the firms focus on urban infill projects and a sensitivity to the value of existing architecture.
Christi Azevedo graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Architecture in 1992. Her associate, Juliana Raimondi graduated from UC Berkeley with a Masters of Architecture in 2013. Drawing from a background rooted in craft, construction and design, they continue to create innovative projects spanning from remodels to new development in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
