When Northern Californian-based Erin Martin was enlisted to design a Portola Valley home for a female Silicon Valley client, the mandate was to create a space that embodied "a bit of country mixed with rock-and-roll and sexy," according to Martin. Relying on a unified color scheme and straightforward materials like metal, concrete, stone, and wood, Martin created a coolly seductive interior enlivened with her signature custom designs—in this case, an oversized hanging swing chair for two. Martin calls the project We Love This Woman—ample proof of the happy collaboration between client and designer.
