Developed through experimentation with geometric forms in the library of Brooklyn-based design studio Apparatus, this chalice-like form is a modern embodiment of ancient rituals. The “Censer” is crafted of spun, cast, and machined brass. As an incense burner, smoke emerges from its hand-cast porcelain dome, while as a candleholder, it becomes a brass torch that emits a soft glow. Included are 120 sticks of incense created in collaboration with Cinnamon Projects. Part of a collection of scents selected to “portray the hours of an infinitely inspired day,” 11 a.m. (ginger, neroli, oud, tonka, violet) sharpens focus while 10 p.m. (cedar, iris, patchouli, rose, tobacco) flirts with mischief.
