Bathroom of the Week: An Italian Bed and Bath at a Revamped Villa, Luxe Edition

April 14, 2017

Forget the overly cheery pinks and greens of Lilly Pulitzer: We much prefer the lush, moody treatment of the colors at Villa La Madonna in Piemonte. Co-owned by Swedish sisters Marie and Annica Eklund (who also run design company Bolon), the 16th-century-villa turned hotel is causing us to rethink a formerly preppy palette. Here’s a look.

On the grounds of a working vineyard, the villa was recently renovated in collaboration with Cortina & Käll architects and Swedish design studio Oddbirds. Each of the guest rooms have terraces and balconies with views of the vines.

The makings of a Villa La Madonna guest room: custom rugs and cushions by Bolon, dramatic velvet headboards, dusty-green- and rust-colored throws, and ochre-hued glass pendant lights.

(In addition to the lush beds and baths, we have our eye on summertime dinners on the terrace and massages offered al fresco.)

N.B. The Eklund sisters just launched a collection of Villa La Madonna rugs, inspired by the woven styles in each villa guest room, now available via Bolon.

Love the look of deep green in the bath and kitchen? Here are a few of our favorites:
