MBB Architects

MBB (Murphy Burnham & Buttrick) is an architecture firm based in the heart of New York City. Founded in 1997 by Jeffrey Murphy, Mary Burnham, and Harry Buttrick—and later joined by Sara Grant—the leadership brings a broad base of experience and expertise to the firm, which offers a complete range of architecture, planning, and interior design services for residential, institutional and commercial clients. Having collectively worked on some of New York City’s most high-profile private and public projects, the partners, who collaborate on every project, share an urban sensibility that manifests in a highly contextual design approach to siting and development.

MBB’s projects are characterized by thoughtful programming, judicious allocation of square footage, and a focus on natural light and views as critical design elements. Sustainability is an inherent component of our designs and practice; over 30% of our staff is LEED accredited, and we have a Sustainability Specialist and Certified Passive House Designer on staff.
