Dutton Architects is a Los Angeles-based design firm which offers the highest quality architectural services that celebrate the creativity and joy of modern living. The firm is multi-disciplinary in spirit, looking at project constraints as opportunities to move beyond conventional and limiting solutions. Our process of creation is collaborative and each client is seen as providing a unique set of needs and contributing to the process in an open and fluid way, enabling a spirit of investigation that is guided but open to possibilities. John Dutton, the principal, oversees all projects himself, forging a personal relationship with each of his clients that is open, trusting, and collaborative.

John Dutton has over eighteen years of experience. A graduate of Princeton University’s Graduate School of Architecture (M.Arch) and Brown University (BA), John trained in some of the world’s top architectural offices including Renzo Piano, Richard Meier and Morphosis. He has taught and lectured about architecture and urban design worldwide and is a frequent jury critic for local schools of architecture. He is past-president of the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design. His writings on architecture have appeared in numerous periodicals and he authored New American Urbanism: Re-Forming the Suburban Metropolis (Skira 2000). He is currently on the faculty of the School of Architecture at University of Southern California.
