Enamelware is porcelain fused onto heavy-gauge steel, giving it many admirable qualities – durability, smoothness and chemical-resistance. It can assume brilliant, long-lasting colors, and cannot burn. If you drop it, it may chip but it won’t break.
Just like any other ceramic, the outer porcelain layer can chip if dropped, revealing the steel beneath it. When this happens the steel below naturally oxidises and the enamelware remains safe to use. Plus, in our opinion, it gains a little more character. Manufactured in China using vintage British tooling since the 1950s.
