Alvar Aalto’s Armchair 406 showcases seating and frame engineered with supportive comfort in mind. The designer’s signature cantilevered frame is crafted of laminated bent birch plywood in a sinuous curve from arms to legs. The bent plywood structure allows for flexing which adds to the comfort of the chair. Seating material in woven linen strapping gives cradling seat support while retaining its taught construction. The natural feel of Aalto’s favored birch wood is offset with woven seating in 6 classic colors.
