Tillyorn

For eighteen months, Knickerbocker Group worked with a Connecticut-based architect to integrate a new contemporary clapboard home that features uninterrupted views of the ocean and an open floor plan to showcase the homeowner’s extensive collection of European antiques.

When purchased, the property housed three original buildings: an 18th-century cape—which was relocated on the property and nestled among pines—a barn, and a chicken shed. Common on old Maine farms, these buildings were not sited for views but for the functional, operational efficiency of the former dairy farm.  The rolling pasturelands afforded a perfect opportunity to construct a new 7,800 square-foot home among the original buildings, designed to incorporate both old and new.

Hunting Island

As a 100-year-old structure, this home on Hunting Island is both never-changing—with its long history and pristine natural setting—and as ever-changing as the tides, the play of light, and even the brutality of Maine weather constantly impact the main house and new bunkhouse and their surroundings.  Our team converted this rustic hunting lodge into a liveable space on a rock-strewn acre in the ocean, giving it all the amenities desired for modern-day living, yet preserving the worlds-away character of island life.

Stoneview Barn

Over the past century, the Stoneview Barn has seen many different owners, functions, and locations. Originally built as an outbuilding to a recently demolished picturesque white farmhouse, this barn was previously used as a workshop, storage area for equipment and building materials, and near the turn of the 20th century, a place to hold local town dances.

Town Landing

Town Landing is a series of coastal-styled buildings, including the main house, a guest cottage, and a traditional barn, located on the rocky shoreline of Maine’s Southport Island. The property functions as the mainland base for transportation to and from the nearby Inn at Cuckolds Light, situated on an island a half-mile offshore.
