Tabletop: Crowd Control
November 24th, 2008
From Julie:
If you find yourself, year after year, scrambling to assemble enough plates, glasses, napkins for the holiday meal, consider investing in some basics. It’s cheaper than renting in the long run, and vastly more appealing than paper plates and napkins.

Below: Sold by the case: White Anfora Rolled-Edge China Plates, made of dishwasher-safe vitrified china, are $44.16 per dozen at Cooking.

Below: Set of 12 white cotton Hotel Napkins; $42 at Williams-Sonoma.

Pottery Barn also has a caterer’s set - nice, sturdy white dishes. For the same price as Williams Sonoma, you can get twice as many plates:

They also have a caterer’s set for flatware, serveware, stemware and linen’s. I was shopping for new dishes a while ago and find it hard to beat the deal. I’ve been using mine for a year now and love them.
