Steal This Look: Barbara Bestor Dining Room
November 4th, 2008
From Francesca:
Los Angeles–based architect Barbara Bestor wrote the book (literally) on bohemian modern. We love her refreshingly low-key approach, on display in her own Silverlake abode, especially this easy-to-recreate dining area (see an LA Times slideshow of Bestor throwing a dinner party).

Below: The Blu Dot Strut Dining Table is available in ivory, robin’s egg blue, olive, or watermelon; $1,299 for the 90-inch-long size, $1,099 for the 75-inch size at Design Public.

Below: Bestor uses the Philippe Starck Objet Perdu chair designed for Driade (and reminiscent of Gio Ponti’s Superleggera Chair, designed in 1957). The Objet Perdu chair is available with either a natural wicker seat or a black interlaced plastic seat; $1,264 for a set of two at Unica Home.
Below: This pair of Object Perdu chromed side chairs is currently available at Home 114 through 1st Dibs.

Below: Bamboo rattan Leran Pendant Lamp; $89.99 for the 24-inch size (smaller shades available) at Ikea.

Below: Bohemian Modern: Living in Silver Lake, by Barbara Bestor; $23.07 at Amazon.
