From Julie:
I wonder what it’s like to be Matthew Lenoci, founder of cult label Matteo Linens. One day you wander into West Elm and see your line of rustic, vintage-inspired linens blatantly knocked off: the entire sophisticated, muted palette, the distinctive details like the frayed edges of sheets, the exact muddy colored ticking stripe. (Ironically, Lenoci writes about “the luxury of owning something no one else has” on his Matteo Home site.)

The New York Times ran this photo of a porch in Sonoma County recently, and I wondered where one would source a similar giant galvanized tub. Turns out you need to go to a farm supply outfit: Apartment Therapy found a company called Behlen Country, which offers galvanized tubs in sizes ranging from three feet in diameter to eight feet in diameter. Go to Behlen Country to locate a dealer.

My Dutch sister-in-law has a knack for sourcing vintage finds. She and my brother put together this shelving system in their home office using wooden crates they found at an Amsterdam market.

Miller/Hull Partnership is a Seattle-based architecture firm known for its innovative modern designs, which feature a Pacific Northwest sensibility. Both founding partners are Washington State natives, and, in their own words, they “attempt to capture the spirit and vitality of the West by focusing on the tensions between nature and materiality; detail and structure.” We especially like their rustic, dramatically situated island cabins. See more at Miller Hull.
