Not a lover of curtains and other window treatments? London firm Turner Castle used frosted glass in the lower half of the window in this bath; get the look with Gila Frosted White Window Film, is easy to install and is compatible with standard 1/8-inch clear residential windows. $19.50 for a 24-inch-by-6.5-foot roll at Technology LK.

You can get a rather sardonic - and much more expensive - lace-patterned version of this from Emma Jeffs. I use it on street-facing windows downstairs, where it manages to go well with a stark interior and a much more cottagey exterior. There are various other patterns, and while they are a bit dear, at least you’re buying them from the maker.

I love this stuff, I just did my bedroom windows with it, perfectly removable and very privacy-providing.
