Furniture: Folding Chairs

June 6th, 2008

From Sarah:

Summer is in full swing in Napa, the hammock is up and I just bought a couple of extra chairs for the garden from Snow Peak, whose high style camping gear we recently featured. The chairs (somewhat reminiscent of the Butterfly chair) are great additions, and although they can be easily folded up and stored off season, I plan on using them in a guest room or office.

Below: Bamboo Chair Long available from Snow Peak for $129.95. Stainless steel and wood with canvas.

Below: Another great Japanese design now available in the US is the Ny Rocking Chair. It is supremely comfortable; my sister had one in Japan and she used it both indoors and out depending on the season. They also fold flat, making them easy to store, but like the Snow Peak, why would you not want to use it year round? Available from DWR for $450.

Below: The director’s chair was the inspiration for the Ny chair above. A classic chair and useful for adding extra seats to an outdoor dinner table. Low Back Director’s Chair by Telescope in a selection of canvas colors for $99.
