Design Voyeur: Ilse Crawford’s Das Kranzbach
March 27th, 2008
From Julie:
A first look at London-based designer Ilse Crawford’s recently completed Das Kranzbach spa hotel in the Bavarian Alps. Crawford’s Studio Ilse has revamped the interiors using her signature mix of unexpected color combinations and daring furniture mashups. Suddenly George Nelson bubble lamps look new again when hung in clusters; white bentwood chairs are at ease next to Arne Jacobsen Swan chairs. Traditional Colonial Windsor dining chairs seem fashionable when painted glossy red. How does she do it?

I love the gray room with the caramel chairs….they say you usually like colors that you wear - for your walls. I’d never thought that was really true as I wear tons of grey but have painted my house walls other colors. This is the room where I would love to have the time to read and reflect!

Hi there. Does anyone know the source for the red chair with the heart cut-out? Thanks!
